If a tooth has been lost or is about to be lost, implant therapy can replace the missing tooth without damaging adjacent teeth while maintaining the underlying bone.

This initial phase determines the exact type and location of the implants needed to support the final restoration (the architect’s blueprint).

A titanium-based implant is placed in the jawbone in relationship to the future restoration. The implant is allowed to heal within the bone for 3-6 months without any load on it. Typically, an interim restoration is worn by the patient during the healing time.

This final step involves the fabrication of the artificial crown that is securely anchored to the underlying implant. The overall success of the entire implant therapy depends upon the anatomic situation of each individual patient, the expertise of the dentists involved, the communication between them, and the expertise of the dental laboratory technician to mimic natural teeth with man-made materials. By choosing Dr. Wöhrle’s office as your complete implant treatment center, you can be assured of the highest expertise in prosthodontic, implant surgical and laboratory phases of treatment. In addition, having the same dentist place and restore the implants ensures optimal treatment outcome in addition to convenience and accountability.
